Renovation & extension, Appledore

The Brief

Nestled in the picturesque village of Appledore, Kent, this project was all about bringing a fresh and modern feel to a beautiful rural home. Our clients wanted to create a light, contemporary interior that still felt connected to its countryside surroundings. The brief focused on blending new additions seamlessly with the original structure, ensuring every update felt like a natural extension of the home.

The Solution

The Early Birds team carried out a full internal renovation, creating a fresh, modern interior filled with light, clean lines, and natural textures. Two thoughtfully designed extensions were added, blending effortlessly with the existing structure to feel like they had always been part of the home. Outside, we enhanced the patio area with a feature well, adding character and a unique focal point to the garden. The result is a stylish, inviting home that feels both modern and timeless.

The Result

Our aim was to create a home that felt fresh, modern, and full of character, while still respecting the original structure. The challenge was to deliver a space that worked for everyday family life, combining clean design with a natural connection to its surroundings.

Key features throughout the new transformation reflect this balance of form and function. A downstairs dog shower and wet room add practicality for busy family life, while bespoke panelling in the snug/office cleverly conceals pipework and cables, maintaining the property’s clean, cohesive aesthetic. In the main bathroom, a wooden shelf made from a tree that once stood in the garden adds a personal, sustainable touch. Outside, an old well that was originally planned to be covered, was transformed into a striking feature with glass and lighting, becoming a focal point of the patio.
